About Fran Harris

Fran Harris is an Austin and Texas sports treasure. She led The University of Texas to a 34-0 NCAA women’s basketball championship, the first and only title in the Longhorn’s history. In 2007, Fran was inducted into UT’s Hall of Honor, and also played on the WNBA’s first championship team with the Houston Comets in 1997. Her storied sports career includes Team USA, SWC All Conference and Player of the Year, Two-time UT MVP, and 1988 Olympic team alternate.

A career that is rivaled only by her business accolades, Fran recently led efforts to bring a WNBA expansion team to the capital city, raising over $400M and teaming with former Milwaukee Bucks owner, MARC LASRY, tech billionaire JENNY JUST, and NBA All Star and fellow Longhorn, KEVIN DURANT. She hosted a renovation series on HGTV(2010), and in 2021 appeared on SHARK TANK with her electrolyte drink, ELECTRA. In 2025, she was named to the Austin Business Journal’s Texas 100 Most Influential Pros.

A dynamic speaker, storyteller, and former ESPN announcer, Fran is co-owner of The Athletic Club sports complexes, and is currently a broadcaster for the WNBA’s Dallas Wing franchise. In 2026, she will launch EXALT, a grassroot girls and women’s pro basketball developmental league and ecosystem headquartered in Austin. On November 21, 2025, Fran received the Distinguished Alumnus Award, the highest honor bestowed upon alumni by the University of Texas at Austin. Her upcoming book, WE-dership, is her 21st published title and will be available at FranHarris.com in December 2025.
